smultronstället

The second leg of our ultimate summer vacation has us picking
wild strawberries by the sea in Rossö Sweden.

We have also done our fair share of crab fishing.

 Grilling and feasting.

And many, many games of Kubb.

partying with gramma's

Lyndale was open for walkers and bikers today for the LynLake street festival
and we had a lot of fun rockin' out with Gramma's Boyfriend.
Anna and Sophia got to meet their first rockstar when Haley Bonar was hanging out after the show.
Last weekend was a big weekend with our Great Gramma as she celebrated her one hundredth birthday!

celebrating the purple one

Anna and I had a bit of a disagreement today about great music artists. I said Prince was the greatest frontman that ever lived. "Yes, frontman!" she said, "...but Taylor Swift is the best frontwoman! I suggested that honor would probably go to Beyonce but we agreed to disagree.

After visiting the memorial at First Avenue we headed out to Paisley Park to hang some signs.
Anna had written a note thanking Prince for the cool music and Sophia designed a thank you sign from our cousin Priya who is a huge Prince fan but lives out in California.
The amount of people today was staggering but we were treated to some pizza thanks to the Paisley Park staff and we lucked out on our timing as the rain subsided during our visit, only to resume the moment we returned to our car.

waxing nostalgic of nye's

Given the culinary revival that has taken place in town over the last fifteen years it's hard getting too sentimental about Nye's Polonaise. With its track record as a hard knock place (given you could never get any service and when you did it wasn't good)...and when the food did show up it was never anything to write home about; I still have a special place in my heart for this place. Our first date took place here and because of that we have our wonderful family and we feel blessed that we could bring our kids here one time before it met the wrecking ball. As far as nostalgia goes; we hope the girls look back on their youth and remember the fabulous Twins ballpark, Patisserie 46 and whatever else is actually fantastic about living in this wonderful city right now because the time we are living in now, truly is a time to remember.

...and yes, we never did get any service at Nye's today so after we took our pictures we headed down the road to Santana Foods, across the street from where mom and pop had their first kiss and got some true comfort food (steak sandwiches and gyros).
